Occupying a public space with structures to support private elements (balconies, for example) is not permitted.
Occupying public space with structures that support public elements such as vegetation or photovoltaic systems is permitted.
The accessibility of the resulting public space must be guaranteed.
In case of building private elements on the façade (balconies, galleries) the maximum projection is 1 metre and they cannot include elements that encroach on a public space.

This 25% refers to the minimum surface of the added vegetation and photovoltaic areas in the blind walls in which both requirements are requested. It does not refer to a percentage of free space between them.

The minimum area of vertical greenery must be at least the 15% of the surface of the blind wall (“median” was a grammatical error in the translation).

Original building drawings are included in the technical annex (plànols històrics). Except for plot 1 (Plaça de Martina Castells) because of its antiquity.

However, specific interventions are allowed in the space close to the blind wall, as long as they can be sufficiently justified in the context of the submission, guaranteeing the accessibility of the resulting public space.

The increase in habitability comes from the possibility of creating new openings that optimize the lighting and ventilation conditions of the homes, as well as their comfort, through the improvement of insulation.

The prior agreement with the communities of owners of the buildings involved in the competition includes a clause establishing that they cannot justify an increase in the rental price due to these improvement works. The presence of protected bird nests has been detected in the blind walls of Carrer d’Hurtado (Marià Manent gardens) and Carrer de Quetzal 17-21 (Francesc Masclans gardens). For the ideas contest, however, the integration of protected bird nests will not be a requirement that the jury will evaluate, as explained in the rules.
We have defined this requirement to promote biodiversity as a transversal concept to be taken into account by the contestants, which they can take into account for their proposals. In the drafting phase of the execution projects of the winning proposals, nesting spaces will be integrated.
